I have a wealth of gymnastics experience and knowledge spanning international competition to grassroots participation. As a youngster I competed at national and international levels however my passion today lies not with elite gymnastics but with participation where through gymnastics I hope to inspire a love for physical activity that will continue into later life.
Following retirement from competition I opened Maple Gymnastics in 1989, an established successful gymnastics and trampoline club located in the New Forest where I am a BG level 4 qualified coach. Founder of the Gymnastics Consultancy (2012) and an experienced tutor I also provide bespoke teacher CPD and deliver sports coach qualifications and BG Teachers Award. During time as a Primary School Gymnastics Consultant in Salisbury (2003 – 2011) and Youth Sports Trust TOP’s tutor I met, worked alongside and listened to many primary teachers gaining valuable insight and understanding regarding barriers and concerns to safe, effective and progressive curricular gymnastics. Recognising a gap in resources I wrote Complete Guide to Primary Gymnastics (Human Kinetics, 2011) to enable teachers to teach gymnastics with confidence and creativity.
Always keen to continue learning I graduated in 2013 from Solent University with a first in Health, Exercise and Physical Activity. Although I have completed two London marathons, frequent the gym and enjoy walking the South-West coast with my husband, I also enjoy the sedentary activity of watching sport and am a keen follower of football, cricket and F1. I am also a keen genealogist captivated by the history and stories of our family ancestors.
